About Us

Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 97! We have an active pack which focuses on learning, growth, community service, and fun! We welcome you to join one of our Dens so you and your son or daughter can participate and grow together. The Cub Scout experience can be one of the most memorable times in a young boy’s life. Cub Scout Pack 97 is a cooperative Pack. This means every parent or adult partner agrees to lead and assist individual Den meetings (or participate at some other level in the den), and share in the Pack’s responsibilities for planning and organizing the Pack’s monthly meetings.

Each year we have wonderful Pack meetings which include among others: an exciting campout, a thrilling pinewood derby, several community service projects, a relaxing campfire night, and for some scouts and their families, the most rewarding night – our Blue and Gold Dinner, at which time the boys receive the majority of their awards. A different activity is scheduled each month during the school year, which is attended by all Dens together. Individual Dens meet weekly at a mutually agreed upon time to work on their achievements and projects. The Dens do not meet the week the entire Pack meets. Currently, the Pack meets the third Thursday of the month in the cafeteria at Franklin Elementary School from 7:00-8:30 pm. Some Pack meetings are scheduled on the weekends, such as the annual campout. The Pack is organized by a Pack Committee and chartered by the parents of Franklin Elementary School. Each Den selects an individual to attend the monthly Pack Committee meetings to discuss Pack and Den business.

In addition to the Den representative, the Pack Committee includes the Cubmaster, Advancement Secretary, Pack Committee Chairperson, and Treasurer. All parents are invited and encouraged to attend at any time (the meetings are not closed). This is the time when your voice can be heard concerning anything Pack related. There are no secrets in Cub Scouting. Parents are always welcome at any organizational meetings of the Pack, District or Council. Our Pack Committee meetings are held the first Thursday of the month during the school year in the Franklin Elementary School library from 7:00-8:30 pm. These meetings are of critical importance to plan and coordinate the Pack’s monthly activities and provide support for Den leaders and parents in the Pack. We need your input at Committee meetings. Each month we review our finances and plan for the next month’s activities. We also discuss any issues that arise regarding Pack operation and leadership.
