Pack 97 is a 2006 National Quality Unit Award Recipient
Results have shown that units attaining
Quality Unit status furnish a consistently better
program, retain youth and adult members longer, and
advance Scouts further along the trail towards Eagle.
The National Quality Unit Award can be earned by a Pack
by establishing and reaching 10 commitment goals over
the unit's charter year. Earning this award enables a
unit to display the Quality Unit Pennant. Additionally,
all Cub Scouts and adult leaders are eligible to wear a
recognition emblem on their uniform.
The following is a list of the 10
commitments for attaining Quality Unit status. While
every unit's ultimate goal should be to complete all
ten, a unit must achieve at least six of the ten items,
including each of four starred (*) items, to qualify for
the award.
1. * TRAINING: The Cubmaster, and at
least 50 percent of den leaders and Webelos den leaders
complete Fast Start Training and basic training for
their current position.
2. * TWO-DEEP LEADERSHIP: Have one or
more registered, trained, and active assistant
Cubmasters. One registered adult is assigned
responsibility for Youth Protection training.
3. PACK MEETINGS: Hold a minimum of
nine pack meetings a year, and the pack will earn the
National Summertime Pack Award.
4. TIGER CUBS: Commit to have one or
more Tiger Cub dens in your pack.

project annually, preferably for the chartered
organization or the community.
6. ADVANCEMENT: Seventy percent or

a rank, or you will have a 10 percent increase over a
year ago. Approved rank advancements for this
recognition include Bobcat, Wolf Cub Scout, Bear Cub
Scout, Webelos Scout, and Arrow of Light.
7. BOYS' LIFE MAGAZINE: Fifty percent
or more of your Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, and Webelos
Scouts subscribe to Boys' Life magazine or you will have
a 10 percent increase over a year ago.
8. MEMBERSHIP: Renew Pack charter with
an equal or greater number of youth registered over a
year ago.
